The “Easy Maintenance” POF (Plastic Optical Fibre) Coupling is an improved version of our standard coupling for 5 pairs of twin POF fibres.

The new design utilises a custom hose insert in the upper boom section that fixes the fibres inside the hose.

It means that the coupling part can be removed with the fibres being held in place.

Thus the hose can be retracted from the cat-rack for maintenance purposes. For this we also supplied a protection cap that can be screwed over the top of the fibres to protect them.

Once the coupling is re-fitted no renewed cutting or polishing of the fibres is required as everything will fit back in place just the way it was.

The quick coupling system allows the user to polish all fibres in one go by going from coarse to fine sandpaper.

Key to success is to ensure you clean the fibres with a paper towel before going to the next finer grit.

Grits above about 400 should be used wet.

The great advantage of the “Easy Maintenance” Quick coupling is the fact that the upper coupling half can be removed and easily re-fitted in situation where the hoses have to come out of the cat-rack.

No cutting or re-polishing of the fibres will be required. Simply re-fit the connector.
